CHA-UK were deeply saddened to hear of the recent death of David Bennett the former Managing Director of ICHF, who has played a central part in growing the UK’s creative craft industry through both the popular consumer and vital UK trade shows. David was well loved and respected by the cross section of our members who at some level have all benefited from his hard work in promoting creativity and craft over several decades.
ICHF Events was established in 1976 by David’s parents–in-law, with David joining one year later. David’s hard work, dedication and love of the industry ensured that the company grew from two initial trade events to being the UK market leader in the creative craft industry, running a programme of 24 consumer and trade crafting shows across the UK.
David retired from ICHF in 2014, taking the position of Chairman, after he suffered a brain tumour. His son, daughter and son-in-law took over management of ICHF Events in the same year.
Troy Bennett, David’s son and joint Managing Director of ICHF Events said, “We are immensely proud of everything Dad achieved and of how hard he fought his illness. Dad loved ICHF and enjoyed his working life over the years, he had a lot of fun and laughter at the shows with exhibitors, visitors and colleagues and we know he’d like us to thank everyone for the good memories and for the support during his illness. Myself, Simon and Karina will continue to uphold Dad’s values in everything ICHF achieves in the future.”
