“A fantastic experience, very well organised and excellent value for money.” —Creative Exchanges attendee, designer and author Natalia Coleman
Craft industry designers, educators, bloggers and teachers came together for the first-ever Creative Exchanges weekend this April in Coventry, UK. The event was a tremendous success, with designers learning new business skills, networking and creating valuable industry connections.
CHA-UK developed the Creative Exchanges event, the first-ever event of its kind in the UK, for the new Designer, Educator, Blogger membership section added to the membership options at the end of last year. The weekend program included specially targeted seminars helping designers build solid business skills, while networking connected attendees with manufacturers and media to spark new business relationships. Seminars inspired attendees throughout both days, from hands on Photography and Video 101 and Social Media sessions to Strategic Planning, Licensing, Trend Spotting, Blogging, How to Get Published in Magazines, Legal Tips and more. Attendees also had the chance to get a first look at products and one on one tuition from Cricut, IndigoBlu, Woodware, Personal Impressions and I Love to Create. Speakers included Lara Watson, the editor of Mollie Makes, Leandra Franich from PaperArtsy, Sara Naumann, Carolyn Schulz, Sarah Hurley and more! Inspirational keynote presentations featured Leonie Pujol of Create & Craft TV, telling of her inspirational journey in the craft industry and Pinterest Ambassador Zoe Arch, giving her top tips for using Pinterest to grow your business and career and stand out among the pinners!
The evening activities gave designers the chance to network as they experienced hands-on activities hosted by Creative Exchanges sponsors IndigoBlu, Cricut, Woodware and Personal Impressions. Attendees could create cards with IndigoBlu’s paint and MegaFlake in a series of special workshops. They could also create papier mache (from Decopatch), Zentangle cards (from Woodware) and fabric painted onesies (from I Love to Create) during our fun and informal Onesie party.
As one Creative Exchanges attendee wrote: I just got back from the CHA-UK Creative Exchanges Designer/Educator event in Coventry. It was the most well organised & excellent value for money (& incredibly fun) event I have been to. I can highly recommend becoming a part of the CHA-UK. I gained such a valuable insight into the business side of our creative industry & met so many people I wouldn’t have otherwise come in contact with. Do look into becoming a member, this one event has already paid me back tenfold #creativeexchanges
