Creativeworld: Creative Hands Award invites entries from retailers from all over the world
Request goes out for best decorative ideas on ‘Slow Design’
The Creative Hands Award, which enjoys high regard in the sector and which is awarded annually at Creativeworld, the international trade fair for hobby, crafts and artists’ supplies, is now in its fifth year. In celebration of the anniversary, there is, therefore, to be something a little special about this year’s awards: the request for submissions in 2017 will, for the first time, be sent out exclusively to retailers, who are being invited to take part and compete with their fellow professionals. The competition this year is all about creative ideas for decorating shop windows and interior displays.
‘Slow Design’ – craftwork on display
In order to gain and retain customers, it is essential to offer products that are in demand together with knowledgeable advice. At the same time, visual and emotive appeal play a more important role, today, than they have ever done. In high-street retail, the shop window and interior displays are the perfect place to awaken the interest of both customers and passers-by and to increase sales. Be it as inspiration for trends in new materials and techniques or for seasonal gift ideas: individual design opens up many creative possibilities.
In conjunction with textile designer and author, Silke Bosbach, Creativeworld wants, with its Creative Hands Award, to pose the question “How do you arouse enthusiasm amongst your customers, and specifically, for new fabrics, wool, designs or seasonal themes?” What are being sought, therefore, are the best decorative ideas for shop windows and interiors based on knitting, crochet and/or sewing and relating to the tagline for the 2017 Creative Hands Award 2017: ‘Slow Design – Craftwork on Display“.
Special display of the best submissions
The Creative Hands Award offers international retailers a unique opportunity to convince a panel of adjudicators with their creative ideas and skills relating to shop-window decoration and the design of interior displays and to present them to a professional public.
Professional retailers may register for the competition up until 1 December 2016 by submitting the relevant entry form. Applications should include photographs to give a flavour of the shop windows and/or interior and its ‘slow design’ decoration. A panel of specialist adjudicators will choose the most creative and decorative ideas, and the best 10 will be displayed in a dedicated exhibition of photographs in Hall 4.1 at Creativeworld, from 28 to 31 January 2017 in Frankfurt am Main. The award ceremony for the Creative Hands Award will take place on the first day of the show, Saturday 28 January 2017, at 11 a.m. in the Creativeworld Forum in Hall 4.2 F90.
Trip to Frankfurt to be won
The three best slow-design decorative displays will receive travel vouchers for two people, including an overnight stay and admission tickets for Creativeworld, Paperworld, Christmasworld and Floradecora, to the value of more than € 300, as well as subscriptions to several handicraft and creative design magazines. All 10 nominees will receive a certificate and two admission tickets to Creativeworld.
Entries for the Creative Hands Award may be submitted up until 1 December 2016. Further details and a copy of the application form are available for download at: creativehandsaward.de
