Many of you will have realised that over the past 2 or 3 years I have been passing over much of my work to other family members and I have also reduced my time in the office to 3 days per week. This had been with the intention of ‘retiring’ by the end of 2015 at the latest and then acting as a consultant.
However, suddenly in May, I was unfortunately diagnosed with a brain tumour and within days I had an operation to remove it. I actually recovered very quickly and then had radiotherapy and some complimentary treatments which are ongoing.
This has therefore advanced my retirement plans but I am delighted that Troy (my son), Karina (my daughter) and Simon (my son-in-law) are more than ready to take on the running of the company and to move it forward. Karina wishes to continue on a part time basis in the office and going to shows, while being active as a director and in the future development of the shows and ICHF.
Troy and Simon will become joint Managing Directors and run the company on a day to day basis. Troy and Simon work extremely well together and I am very confident and comfortable in them taking on this role. You should all feel very reassured to have them both at the forefront of ICHF’s future as they both have the skills, knowledge and determination required to make sure the shows continue to be a success in the years to come.
My wife Sue will continue to have an active roll as a director and Ruth (who founded ICHF with her husband in 1976) still goes into the office from time to time. I will take the position of Chairman, although for the time being I am focused on getting better and supporting the directors as appropriate, but I hope to visit some shows before too long.
Finally I would like to wish you well with the upcoming shows.
With very best wishes,
